Samuel M. Barrett (also known as Doug Shapiro) is a character in the film Hatchet. Samuel is the 5th victim of Victor Crowley to die in the first film.
He is played by Joel Murray.
History[]
No formal history is established for Samuel other than that he was a long time con-artist and a former teacher until taking a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana and then going on a swamp tour through the Crowley residence, getting trapped and then getting killed by the spirit of the urban legend Victor Crowley.

Shapiro is revealed to have been not only a pervert, but a pedophile as well. In one of the video footages from his own camera, Shapiro harasses a 14-year-old girl and tells her to take her top off for a video.
